Knox County sees three more COVID-19 cases, CDC reports Wednesday – Knox County VillageSoup
Knox County saw three additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday, Nov. 2.
For the second consecutive day, a Knox County resident has been admitted to a hospital with the virus.
Testing at the Rockland Wastewater Treatment Plant as of Oct. 26 showed a slight increase in the virus in the community’s wastewater during the past week.
Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 7,620 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 115 have been admitted to hospitals, and 47 have died.
Statewide, an additional 378 cases were reported during the past day. There were no additional deaths reported statewide Nov. 2, keeping the number at 2,653.
There were four additional people statewide admitted to a hospital in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 6,159 since the pandemic began in March 2020.
The CDC reports 159 Mainers currently in the hospital with the virus, a decrease of more than 30 in the past week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 159 hospitalized, 27 are in critical care units and eight on ventilators. Forty-four critical care beds are available in Maine.
