Cut & Dried Strain Review: Island Honey
I’ve been experiencing a stubborn lack of motivation lately. Just thinking about opening my laptop to work is enough to make me want to doze off. Dinner is whatever’s easy — perogies — and Netflix is streaming well before my no-Netflix-before-9 p.m. rule. Shorter days will do that, apparently. When the sun goes down, so do I.
To try and extinguish this exhaustion and spark some inspiration by way of weed, I opted for a new sativa-dominant hybrid strain by Pure Sunfarms. Grown in a sunny, state-of-the-art greenhouse in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley, Island Honey boasts 20 per cent THC and a fairly affordable price tag. The name sounded both dreamy and delicious.
After I finally managed to open my one-gram package with scissors (because not only was it childproof but also adultproof), I found a perfect little nugget inside — my hope for brighter days and a catalyst to create again. A cross between Jack Herer and Early Pearl, Island Honey features a thick layer of milky trichomes, bright green leaves, and dainty amber pistils. While I found this particular cannabis product to be a bit dry, it was easy to grind, simple to roll, and pleasant to smoke.

Notes of cinnamon, cloves, lemon curd, candied ginger, and rosewood filled the air around me, just as the company’s website promised.
All I needed were three hits. At first, my head was lost in a mild haze, thinking, of all things, about how my last name rhymes with cannabinoid (and terpenoid) and how it’s surely no coincidence that I ended up writing about this incredible plant. After contemplating this for a while, a light buzz, like a parade of bees, began to hum through my body. I felt happy, calm, and driven, at last. After nearly a week of thinking about writing, I not only picked up a pen but proceeded to spend the next two hours drafting an outline for what could be my first book. It’s called The Apartments. Needless to say, this strain is excellent if you’re looking to get back in the groove.
