Live Updates: Oregon’s Unemployment Rate Fell To 11.2% In June . News
UPDATE (10:15 a.m. PT) — There’s some good news for Oregon’s economy. The Oregon Employment Department announced Tuesday the state has already recovered nearly one-third of the more than 121,550 jobs lost during March and April amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
All told, the state recovered more than 77,000 nonfarm payroll jobs in May and June. That helped the state unemployment rate dip more than three percentage points last month, down to 11.2%.

Oregon reports 280 new COVID-19 diagnoses, 3 deaths
The Oregon Health Authority announced Monday 280 new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 diagnoses in the state, and three new deaths due to the virus. Since the start of the pandemic 12,438 people in Oregon have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.
Oregon’s 235th COVID-19 death is a 67-year-old man in Marion County who tested positive on July 8 and died July 11, in his residence. He had underlying conditions.
Oregon’s 236th COVID-19 death is a 76-year-old man in Clackamas County who tested positive on July 1 and died July 4, in his residence. He had underlying conditions.
Oregon’s 237th COVID-19 death is a 54-year-old man in Umatilla County who died on July 8 in his residence and tested positive post-mortem on July 9. He had underlying conditions.
Clark County reports 106 new cases
Health officials in Clark County, Washington, Monday reported 106 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 1 new death. Since the start of the pandemic, 1,272 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus in the county, and 33 have died.
The latest available data from the Washington Department of Health shows 40,656 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the state and 1,438 are known to have died of it. As of July 13, COVID-19 has led to the hospitalization of 4,751 people in Washington.
