Five counties in southern Illinois reporting new COVID-19 cases

(WSIL) — Williamson county reports additional cases of COVID-19 Saturday, a day after appearing on the Illinois Department of Public Health’s warning level list for its 5th week.

Altogether health departments in southern Illinois confirmed 21 new cases of the virus Saturday across Franklin, Jackson, Saline, White and Williamson counties.

Franklin County:

  • Females: One teenager and one in their 30’s
  • Males: One teenager and one in their 20’s

To date, there have been a total of 478 laboratory confirmed positives in Franklin county of COVID-19, including two deaths related to the virus. Of these positive cases, 306 have recovered in Franklin county.

Jackson County:

According to the Jackson County Health department there have been 1,230 confirmed cases to date, including 24 related deaths. Of these positive cases, 1,114 individuals released from isolation, including 9 on Saturday.

Saline County:

  • Female: One in her teens, at home and in isolation

Officials with the Egyptian Health Department say to date, Saline County has had a total of 249 lab confirmed positives, including three deaths.

White County:

  • Male: One in his 60’s, case status in progress

White County has had a total of 158 lab-confirmed positives.

Williamson County:

  • Females: One child under 10, one in their 20’s, two in their 50’s and one in their 60’s.
  • Males: One teenager, one in their 20’s, one in their 40’s, one in their 50’s and one in their 80’s.

To date, there have been a total of 1,316 laboratory confirmed positives in Williamson county, including 34 deaths in Williamson county. Of these positive cases, 751 have recovered in Williamson county.

Illinois Department of Public Health:

Illinois reaches its highest number of COVID-19 tests in one day at 74,286. This puts the state at more than 5 million tests completed.

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today reported 2,529 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 25 additional confirmed deaths.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 272,856 cases, including 8,436 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois.
