Here are the latest updates in the COVID-19 pandemic:
- 10 p.m.: WCCO has learned the guidelines on reopening Minnesota’s bars and restaurants — which will officially be announced Wednesday — will focus on “four pillars,” according to Hospitality Minnesota.
- 7:12 p.m.: Former Minnesota Congressman Jason Lewis, who is now running for the Senate, is suing Gov. Tim Walz over the stay-at-home order.
- 6:58 p.m.: After 29 years, Moose and Sadie’s restaurant in Minneapolis’ North Loop neighborhood is closing due to “the economic impact” of the pandemic.
- 5 p.m.: Minneapolis Park courts, playgrounds and fields to slowly reopen during Stay Safe MN.
- 2:40 p.m.:The State of Minnesota has purchased a St. Paul facility that will temporarily store human remains of those who have died during the pandemic.
- 1:11 p.m.: Gov. Evers announces $1 billion statewide effort to support COVID-19 testing, contact tracing, operations and resources for local communities.
- 1 p.m.:U.S.-Canada border closure extended by at least a month.
- 12 p.m.: A tour featuring Green Day, Weezer and Fall Out Boy was slated to stop in the Twin Cities this summer, but the show has been postponed until 2021 due to COVID-19 concerns.
- 11:45 a.m.: U.S. home building plunged again in April, taken down by economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, with ground breakings plummeting 30.2% and construction of single-family homes dropping 25.4%.
- 11:00 a.m.: MDH reports an additional 665 cases of COVID-19 and 17 more deaths. The state now has more than 17,000 confirmed cases of the virus.
- 10:35 a.m.: St. Paul Firefighters to partner with Wahlburgers, Hy-Vee and Crescent Capital to help feed first responders and frontline workers.
- 10 a.m.: Annie Glenn, the widow of astronaut and U.S. Sen. John Glenn and a communication disorders advocate, has died from COVID-19 complications, while staying at a Minnesota nursing home. She was 100 years old.
- 9:10 a.m.: CentraCare completes asymptomatic testing for all residents, employees at long term care facilities.
- 9 a.m.: Gov. Tim Walz has directed all flags at state and federal buildings in Minnesota to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Tuesday and on the 19th of every month through 2020 to remember, mourn, and honor lives lost due to COVID-19.
- 8:01 a.m.: Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe confirms first case of COVID-19.
- 6:01 a.m.: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell are set to provide the first public update on the CARES Act, two months after Congress approved the $2.2 trillion federal relief package.
- 5:32 a.m.:President Trump threatens to make the suspension of World Health Organization funding permanent.
- 5:22 a.m.:President Donald Trump says that he is taking the controversial drug hydroxychloroquine, an antimalaria drug that the FDA has warned against widespread use, along with zinc as preventative measures against the coronavirus.
