Summerlin Floors, a woman-owned flooring business, has announced a $2,500 scholarship opportunity for a woman of color pursuing a Greenfield Community College degree in business.
The business is looking to give back to the community and future generations, to help them change their lives through education and begin a successful career. Ann Bronner and daughter Lori Zumbruski, who is also a part of the Summerlin Floors team, have created this scholarship in memory of Ann’s daughter, Erin, whom they lost in 2018.
“A woman achieving a college degree has a multigenerational impact that goes beyond her. And, when one thinks of the wage gap, we know that this gift from Ann Bronner of Summerlin Floors will be transformative for one of our students and generations to come,” said Yves Salomon-Fernández, president of Greenfield Community College. “We’re so grateful that Ms. Bronner is investing in our students.”

Bronner, owner of Summerlin Floors, is a proud Greenfield Community College alum herself. Her goal is to support the future generation of scholars and give back to the GCC community. The intention in launching this scholarship is to help prepare the recipient for the next steps in her college education.
“Greenfield Community College was a pivotal part of my life,” Bronner said. “GCC is an incredibly welcoming environment for its diverse student body. The professors, faculty and administration created an inspiring and enriching experience for me and now is my opportunity to give back.”
Effective Monday, Holyoke Mall’s operating hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Sunday hours will remain 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Some stores and restaurants may have different operating hours. Holyoke Mall continues to enforce sanitizing policies and procedures. All visitors to Holyoke Mall are reminded to follow our new Healthy Shopper Guidelines with Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations everyone must follow prior to entering the property.
Simple personal hygiene is essential to minimizing the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Holyoke Mall is actively reminding and encouraging its employees, tenants and guests to follow CDC preventative measures as part of daily routines:
• Wash your hands
• Wear a mask
• Keep practicing social distancing
• Stay home if you’re sick
In addition, the PVTA will also resume regular service to the bus stop at Yellow Entrance in between JCPenney and 110 Grill on Monday.

Tapestry will provide free COVID-19 testing in Agawam and Springfield as part of the Massachusetts Stop the Spread testing initiative. Testing will be drive-thru, free, and available for both asymptomatic and symptomatic individuals. Testing will be done via a nasal swab and results will be available within 48 hours. Appointments and pre-registration strongly encouraged, however walk-ins will not be turned away if there is capacity. Please call 364-2149 for scheduling.
Testing will be done atAgawam Junior High School, 1305 Springfield St., and available Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m.; Thursday from noon to 3 p.m.; Aug. 12 from 3 to 6 p.m.; and Aug. 13 from noon to 3 p.m.
Springfield testing information has yet to be announced.
