Montgomery County public health officials announced another death attributed to COVID-19 Saturday, bring the total to 16 for the area since the start of the pandemic.

Officials cannot release further information on the death due to privacy laws. It was the second death announced in the past two days, and the third in the past week.

Montgomery County’s case count since March 6 now stands at 2,088 lab-confirmed and 30 probable cases, for a total of 2,118 cases.

Of those, beyond the 16 deaths, 1,029 people have recovered and there are 1,073 active cases.

221 of the total cases are among school aged children, ages 5 to 18.

Public health director Joey Smith said since Friday, there have been 33 new cases out of 421 new test results. 

There’s also been one new hospitalization, for a total of 92 hospitalizations.

There’s been a total of 26,667 total negative lab results.

The Montgomery County Health Department has moved its drive-thru testing site to Civitan Park at 650 Bellamy Lane in St. Bethlehem.

Testing hours are 7 a.m. to noon each weekday.
