Penn State, CVIM To Host COVID-19 Booster Vaccine Clinic September 23

Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) is partnering with Penn State to host a free COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Friday, September 23. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Students can book appointments for the Pfizer bivalent booster vaccine here. According to the Food and Drug Administration, this booster dose protects against the original COVID-19 virus strain and the newer omicron variant.

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. If there are any remaining appointments, Penn State faculty, staff, and community members can fill the remaining slots.

To be eligible for the booster dose, you must’ve completed the first series of either the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson vaccines and need to be 12 years of age or older. Additionally, it must have been at least two months since your last booster or three months since a COVID-19 infection.

Masks are required, and you should bring a photo ID and vaccine card to your appointment. Individuals will need to complete a vaccine consent form and wait inside the BJC for approximately 15 minutes after receiving their shot.

To receive your vaccine, enter the BJC through Gate B. Parking will be available in the large lot located east of the BJC for up to one hour with no permit required. Additional parking will also be available at the corner of Curtin Road and Commuter Drive.

Penn State is now encouraging folks to mask indoors, as Centre County checked in Thursday with a “high” COVID-19 community level, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This is the first time it’s been in the “high” transmission level in 15 weeks.
