Weld County case, testing and outbreak data for the week of Sept. 9 – Greeley Tribune

The Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment reports the cumulative number of cases in the county went up by about 100 in the past week, to 4,242.

The two-week average positive test rate is up from the start of the month, with 4.15% of tests across the county coming back positive. In the Greeley area, the two-week average positive test rate is 4.46%.

As of Sept. 9, there are 37 hospitalizations at Weld County regional hospitals, of which there are 12. On Sept. 3, there were 32 hospitalizations reported. There are 420 hospital beds available, 148 ICU beds available and 80 ventilators available, according to county data.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported Wednesday the following locations have active COVID-19 outbreaks:

  • JBS Greeley Plant: 290 lab-confirmed cases, three probable cases and six staff deaths. Outbreak began April 3.
  • Weld County Jail: 52 lab-confirmed cases among inmates, 22 lab-confirmed cases among staff and one inmate death. Outbreak began: April 1.
  • Vestas Blades America, Windsor: 10 lab-confirmed cases. Outbreak began Aug. 11.
  • Faith Tabernacle Church, Greeley: nine lab-confirmed cases. Outbreak began Sept. 8.
  • Assistance Unit: four lab-confirmed cases. Outbreak began Aug. 8.

Though not listed by the state, a number of Weld County schools, including four in Greeley-Evans School District 6, have gone remote due to either positive tests or presumptive positive cases. District 6 officials have quarantined 18 different groups of students and staff across 13 schools, according to the District 6 COVID-19 Quarantines dashboard.

There have been two deaths due to COVID-19 so far this month in the county, according to county data, bringing the total number of deaths to 96. The state, which appears to be including deaths among people who died with COVID-19, reports 149 COVID-19 deaths in Weld County.
