Wellness Program Updates: COVID-19 Vaccination Activity

Eligible participants include active and pre-65 retired Plan members who received their full vaccination as Plan members any time since January 1, 2021 (the beginning of our Plan Year).

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services regulatory guidelines prohibit Medicare Advantage members from earning an incentive for participating in the COVID-19 Vaccination Activity. The COVID-19 Vaccination Activity is an extension of SHBP Annual Wellness Initiatives offered to SHBP Commercial (non-MA) members and covered spouses enrolled in Anthem, UnitedHealthcare and Kaiser Permanente Plan Options.

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (Anthem) and UnitedHealthcare

The existing Be Well SHBP® Program administered by Sharecare is open to active and pre-65 retired members enrolled in Anthem or UnitedHealthcare plans. Currently, well-being incentive points are awarded for completing various activities (i.e. 120 points for completing the RealAge Test, which is a required activity to start earning points, 120 points for completing a biometric screening, 60 points for one completed coaching call per month, etc.).

Points accumulate to a maximum of 480 and can be earned through November 30th. Upon earning the full 480 points, a member or eligible spouse can each choose to redeem those points for a $150 Visa Reward card. Alternatively, points can be converted into credits to offset medical and pharmacy expenses in increments of 120 credits. Points must be redeemed by December 15th.

For the Be Well program, the new promotion adds the COVID-19 Vaccination as an activity worth up to the full 480 points, which eligible members can redeem for 480 credits or a $150 Visa Reward card. This wellness program addition will also end November 30th. Sharecare is updating its Be Well site to reflect the new wellness promotion.  Eligible members will be required to log on to the Be Well site, complete the RealAge Test and provide their vaccination information to receive credits. Kaiser Permanente

Currently, Kaiser Permanente members and their eligible spouses have access to the 2021 SHBP 5-Step Wellness program. Through this program, they each can earn a $500 reward card for completing certain wellness activities.

For Kaiser, the new promotion will add an opportunity for eligible members and covered spouses, whether they have already completed their 5-Step Wellness program or not, to earn a $150 reward card for becoming fully vaccinated. This wellness program addition will end on November 30th, 2021. Eligible Kaiser members should log into kp.org/engage using their existing kp.org credentials to complete the rewards redemption process.  Click here for more information.
