Extracted & Concentrated Review: Gorilla Glue Lollipop
If it’s infused with weed, any hesitation I have about sucking on lollipops in public flies out the window, which was the case recently.
When I asked my local budtender for his recommendation from the shop’s latest extracts and edibles menu, a big smile spread across his face as he turned to pull out a bright orange sucker the size of a toonie. How could my sweet tooth resist?
Despite my ridiculous thoughts about adults and suckers, I’ve always been interested in trying one as an edible, particularly because of how slowly it can be consumed. Besides sugar, corn syrup, and a splash of vanilla, my sucker was packed with 100mg of Gorilla Glue strain and for no reason, I tried it about an hour before Thanksgiving dinner.
Once I popped it in, the sucker stayed twisting and twirling around in my mouth and, although the sweet candy became exceedingly difficult not to crunch down, I lasted six whole minutes. The orange Life Savers flavor camouflaged all but a hint of cannabis.
Lollipops, like gummies, are also a wonderful way to cover the smell of cannabis, especially from pungent strains like Gorilla Glue.
The sativa dominant effects became very noticeable about 20 minutes later, but not overwhelming and lasted for hours. I skipped my way to dinner. Gorilla Glue is simultaneously physically relaxing and mentally stimulating, which makes it a fantastic social strain. It even has the potential to make a formal family get together feel mellow, so be sure to pick up this strain if you want to chill out this Christmas rather than stress out.
Aside from cannabis infused tongue strips, suckers and lollipops are possibly the easiest way to super microdose. A little search on the good old internet reveals that there are about 1,000 licks in a standard lollipop. In weed terms, that means each lick of a 100gm lollipop will bring you less than a milligram of THC. A tenth, to be exact, but to each their own.
Suckers and lollipops, some could argue, are a discreet way to consume cannabis in public, but I’d have to disagree. The only reason you’ll ever see an adult with a sucker in public is because it’s infused with THC. And there’s nothing peculiar about that.
