Extracted & Concentrated Review: Taos CBD Lotion
For the first time in my life, I ached for pain: an inflamed rotator cuff, a stiff neck, a stubbed toe, anything that would allow me to properly review Taos CBD lotion. Then, finally, my shoulder hurt one evening — probably aftershock from when I fell on the ice a few days earlier — so I quickly unwrapped the Toas Arctic Freeze cream like my shoulder pain was a Blue Moon and the lotion was my camera. Cannabis scripture says that one of CBD’s many benefits is easing both skin conditions and muscle soreness. I couldn’t wait to see if this was true.
Beyond Skin Deep
As a topical, CBD allegedly works by activating the body’s endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for our feelings of pleasure and pain. By binding to cell receptors in muscle tissue, skin and nerves, CBD lotion can be a potent pain reliever and viable alternative to some pharmaceuticals. Besides, 500 mg of CBD, Taos’ 100 ml bottle of lotion contains nearly 30 other exotic ingredients: Helianthus Annuus seed oil, Butyrospermum Pakii Butter and Boswellia Serrata extract to name a few.
I squeezed some onto my fingers and rubbed it on my shoulder, up my neck and down my arm. A little goes a long way with this stuff. The immediate sensation on my skin and smell in my nose was familiar, like Vicks VapoRub. Then I rubbed my eye and totally forgot about my shoulder. By morning, the dull ache had vanished.
Dope Lotion
Was it the CBD that cleared my pain or my imagination? As much as I unequivocally believe in the power of pot, I’m still skeptical of CBD’s many miracles. So I took it to the streets.
Beginning mid-January, if I heard anyone in my hood mention an aching back, sore knees, shin splints, or anything to do with trips, slips or falls, I offered my dope lotion in exchange for a quote.
Each of my subjects received 25 mg of Taos in a spare lid or cap wrapped in plastic with handwritten instructions and a deadline. About two weeks later, I began to track them down.
The real estate agent, Saeed with sore knees, who twice requested a sample of Taos CBD lotion, didn’t respond to emails for his review. I began to worry the pain relief I enjoyed was, in fact, a product of my mind.
Then Bill with a sore back texted: “It kind of numbs the pain, I think.” He used about 5 mg of lotion and it kicked in after about 10 minutes.
Later I ran into Neil with a knee injury and chronic pain. I was excited to see if CBD lotion could replace his budding opioid habit. “So, how did it work?” I asked. At first, he didn’t know what I was talking about, then stammered something about how he used it up weeks ago and asked for more. I took that as a good sign.
David told me he tried some on his arthritic knees. “It definitely eliminated the soreness,” he says. “It did what it was supposed to do.”
Finally, Zari, a nurse with chronic lower back pain, paid her debts in verbiage.
She said she has applied the Toas CBD lotion to her leg muscles and sciatic nerve after several 12-hour shifts and it was a welcome relief. “I’ve noticed pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties that help me sleep better,” Zari wrote from work. “Compared to other rubbing pain meds, this one is better.”
When it comes to pain, people will do just about anything for relief. This is clear with an opioid crisis rapidly growing across North America. I hope more doctors will prescribe CBD topicals like those from Toas for addiction-free pain relief. I’m no doctor but my patients are happy.
