Latitude Bath Salts by 48No

Splish splash, I was bathing in hash.

Well, more like a ¼ cup of THC-infused Epsom salts that smelled euphoric and felt luxurious, but it’s not like my dry winter skin could tell the difference.

With activated charcoal, vitamin E, and MCT oil among the many sensual ingredients, Latitude by 48North is the bath product everyone is talking about. Okay, my neighbor and I were for a few days, anyway.

“I used them for period cramp pain relief,” Dana told me when I asked for her thoughts a few weeks after I’d given her a cup to try.

Rather than risk an upset stomach with Ibuprofen, Dana told me she sat in a tub full of THC for about 20 minutes. The results were incredible.

“I was tensing my muscles from pain all day, so it really helped to let my body relax and actually took some of the pain away,” she said.

Their purpose for me wasn’t intentionally medicinal, but my experience was equally therapeutic. In fact, until Dana mentioned she’d used the salts for pain relief, I had a difficult time imagining how THC-infused bath salt would feel — in my body or mind.

After sprinkling a half cup of the pink salts under my running bath water, I switched on some music and sunk into the sweet, silky elixir. It was then I declared it self-Karen Saturday.

While the 400g bag of salts, infused with 25g of cannabis, suggests I relax in the tub for at least 20 minutes, it’s difficult to not want to soak in this glorious bath water for anything less than an hour. Besides Epsom salt, sea salts, sativa cannabis, and MCT oil, Latitude also features oils and aromas of jojoba, patchouli, sweet orange, and jasmine.

If you’ve used cannabis infused massage oil, then you’re already acquainted with the sensations of a cannabis infused bath. Infused bath products like Latitude magnify the already-relaxing effects of soaking in a hot tub.

Some of the oil will absorb through your skin and into your bloodstream via a passive diffusion process that scientists call percutaneous absorption. Besides menstrual cramps, THC-infused bath salts can relieve stress and hypertension, soothe aching muscles and joints, and promote sleep.

A rub, a dub, just chilling the tub, my arms and legs bobbed on the water’s surface while a week’s worth of tension drained from the rest of my submerged body. Warm sun streamed through the window and Spotify delivered music that sounded more like poetry. To say it was difficult to open my eyes and leave this dream bath would be an understatement.

Take care when you do step out, though, as the moisturizing ingredients will probably leave your tub as smooth as your skin — advice from both myself and the company.
