Strain Review: M.A.C. 1

To save a few dollars recently, I’ve been huffing and puffing away on some pretty junk weed. The thing is, whenever I attempt to tell my friend/local pot proprietor of my concerns with his product, he vehemently disagrees and practically gaslights me back into buying it. All the while I think and wonder: Maybe my tolerance is too high. Maybe my cold is burning my throat. Maybe I rolled a bad joint (25 times). And finally, maybe it’s time to try something new, perhaps a little more sophisticated.

So off I snuck the next day to the local dispensary to see what they had in store. Of course, all cannabis is pretty inexpensive these days. Even top shelf weed is only $10 for a gram in some parts of the country. But I was getting used to paying far less than that, and evidently — based on my first experience with M.A.C. 1 (a.k.a. Miracle Alien Cookies) — I was getting what I paid for. The warm familiar feeling of good weed rippled through my body after just a few tokes.

M.A.C. 1’s vibrant olive-green leaves with orange hairs are barely visible under dense trichomes which boast THC levels ranging between 19 and 24 percent. The strain’s distinct but pleasing aroma is like a glass of orange juice with a splash of lime. It’s no shocker to me the dominant terpene in M.A.C. 1 is limonene. It’s equally delightful flavor is peach pie meets spiced vanilla ice cream.

I also enjoy how easily the dense bud crumbles — like feta cheese. You barely need a grinder to crush M.A.C. 1 into dust.

I didn’t cough after puffing this 50-50 hybrid strain once, twice, or three times. In fact, the whole slow burning joint was just a smooth, rich flow of sweet weed sailing from my lips to my lungs and back again.

Sensations of euphoria gradually built until I felt fully energized and inspired, but also relaxed and worry-free for at least two hours.

The combination of indica and sativa makes this strain a great option for mornings, afternoons, and evenings. It’s equally effective at treating anxiety and insomnia, as it is depression and chronic pain, especially inflammation.

After my week-long fling with M.A.C. 1, I remembered you get what you pay for, after all. Maybe it’s time to cut corners and save money elsewhere. But for a strain that can pleasure (rather than irritate) all five senses, sometimes a few extra dollars makes all the difference.
